About Martin Magnuson McCarthy & Kenney

artin, Magnuson, McCarthy & Kenney is one of the leading civil trial firms in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Martin, Magnuson, McCarthy & Kenney is the successor firm to Martin, Magnuson & Hennessey, established in 1957 by Ephraim Martin, Harold E. Magnuson and Edward F. Hennessey. In 1967, Edward F. Hennessey left the firm to accept judicial appointment. At that time Clement McCarthy and Raymond J. Kenney, Jr. joined in partnership, while Ephraim Martin and Harold E. Magnuson remained associated with the firm as sole practitioners. In 1981, Clement McCarthy, Raymond J. Kenney, Jr. and Charles P. Reidy, III established McCarthy, Kenney & Reidy, P.C. The professional corporation continued its association with Ephraim Martin and Harold E. Magnuson, practicing under the style Martin, Magnuson, McCarthy & Kenney. Clement McCarthy died in May of 1985, Ephraim Martin died in September of 1988 and Harold E. Magnuson died in June of 1999. After serving for 22 years as a member of the Massachusetts judiciary, most recently as Chief Justice of the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts, Edward F. Hennessey returned to the firm he helped found in an "of counsel" capacity until the Spring of 2005.
