About Fairfax Fish
FISH provides financial assistance for rent and mortgage payments, utilities (gas, electric, heating oil), prescriptions, medical treatments, gasoline, car repairs, educational course work and other critical needs for our neighbors in temporary financial crisis. FISH provides transportation to and from medical appointments for our neighbors who are unable to drive themselves. FISH provides food to those in need of it. Six of FISH's member churches maintain food pantries and our FISH drivers fill food requests at those food pantries, supplement the food requests with perishables (such as meat, milk and fresh fruit and vegetables) and deliver the food to our neighbors in need. FISH provides clothing through the Clothing Closet that it maintains. The Clothing Closet is open on Tuesday and Thursday mornings (and the first Saturday of each month) from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm at Fairfax Presbyterian Church. How Does FISH Work? Fairfax FISH receives the majority of its requests for financial, food and transportation assistance through Fairfax County. The County Office of Coordinated Services Planning has established a partnership with community-based outreach organizations to facilitate assistance to Fairfax residents who are in need of help.
